The bioactive compounds found in marine organisms have led to new agents for the treatment of cancer, infectious diseases and immunosuppression. I am heading up the research for bioactive compounds that may lead to new drug discoveries in the South Atlantic region. This research could have a larger impact on formulating new treatment modalities.
