Green River College Math Learning Center (MLC) employs part-time hourly positions to provide free tutoring services to help students on a drop-in basis. As math a math tutor, my job responsibilities include: guiding students through math problems and projects by providing the materials needed; initiating the students to learn, think, and understand the materials; explaining the problems to the students in concise words; creating a lesson plan for each student based on their math levels. I am responsible for tutoring students on math subjects including calculus, linear algebra, and high school math problems.

Green River College International Programs organizes the Foundation for Success (FFS) program for new international students to help them establish a strong learning foundation and enables them to transfer well. Students in this program have many opportunities to develop and perfect their skills working alongside their Peer Mentors. My job as a Peer Mentor was to: counsel and assist students to overcome the difficulties of their first semester, so that they can adapt to life, and make appropriate choices to stay focused; provide coaching on time management, communication skills, and study skills; carry out a weekly cohort learning session collaboratively with 4 other mentors to 25 new students to provide them with useful information such as goal-building, health care, and stress management; advice on class schedules, housing arrangements, and university transfer.
