At Communicator I work as a Senior Developer within the IT team. I am responsible for leading projects and managing others workload and coaching. Whilst at Communicator I have been responsible for working on multiple projects. One project was responsible for managing users and the security across the whole Communicator Platform and another was giving users the ability to submit requests for information in line with the new GDPR guidelines. Since arriving at Communicator I have helped improve how the team use Scrum as an agile framework, TDD and coding standards. I regularly chair planning and refinement sessions. I continually help to advocate quality of code, our products and I am proactive in driving the team forward. I have coached multiple members of the team in TDD best practices / design patterns and these have actively used in our ongoing projects.

At NCFE I worked as part of the IT and Project Services development team as a software developer. The team was fully agile and used the SCRUM and KANBAN methodologies. We built our software using test driven development from the outset. I helped to develop N-Tier applications with various aspects being service orientated. The majority of software created used MS Test, .NET 4.5, C#, MVC, jQuery, KnockoutJS, and WCF web services on the latest Microsoft stack. We used TFS 2010 as our source control and I was pivotal in moving the team over to TFS 2013. As well as our TDD approach we completed regular code reviews on all work undertaken to make sure quality remained high. Also as part of my job I continually helped and coached other members of the team.

I worked as part of a development team using the SCRUM methodology. We planned out our work on a cyclic basis and had daily meetings to discuss progress. I developed with ASP.NET web forms and MVC using C# and the .net 3.5 and 4.0 frameworks to create new products and features for the 4Projects SaaS platform. I also implemented TFS across the company and managed the source control environment, continuous integration builds and deployment strategies.

I used Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 Team System to maintain and develop johnlewis.com and other internal projects using .NET 2.0, 3.5, AJAX, and jQuery. I also put forward proposals to management to upgrade from TFS 2005 to 2008 and consequently 2010 which were accepted and helped to improve the business. My responsibilities included maintaining the continuous integration of my teams changes and the release and build of our developement branches for various ongoing projects within the team.I was also responsible for sponsoring other junior members of the team to help improve their skills and promote learning in new technological areas.

At Think Limited I worked as a project lead/application developer within a development team of 20 people. I was the lead on main projects whilst being a developer on several other projects at once. My duties were too develop and maintain web applications using ASP.NET 1.1, and 2.0 using C#, SQL 2005 and CSS. I gave presentations and demonstrations on .NET 3.5 aswell as learning the new features it offered to improve mine and others development skills. When being the lead on a project I undertook the responsibilites of managing and assigning work to others and making sure that tasks set were supported and delivered on time.

Whilst at Acxiom I worked as a .NET Software Developer within a team of 11. I helped to develop n-tier web applications using ASP.NET, C#, AJAX, XHTML and CSS with SQL server 2000 and 2005 backends. Some applications were developed using the CSLA framework. This is a open source n-tier framework which is used to plan out business objects and how data access is managed. I also spent time training developers how to use CSS to make web application layouts semantic and cross browser compatible.

Worked as a developer within a team to provide web based solutions for the commercial sector. The role consisted of receiving a specification from the project lead and a design from the design studio to which timescales were calculated. We worked with the XP methodology in place and pair programmed but also used UML when needed. During development we wrote generic controls and classes to assist in the reuse of code to speed up future developments and also try to make the existing application/s more scalable should any additional functionality need to be added at a later date. Before coding an ERD was created of the database structure and then the database was created. Once the web applications’ functionality was in place the style sheets were developed from the design and applied to complete the web application. The development of projects used a 5 tier application model and were object orientated.

I worked as a project developer working with a lead architect to provide a client side application. This was a web based publishing solution for the automotive sector. The solution encompassed document and archival indexing, as well as transformation in order to provide a complete end-to-end awareness of published knowledge. This publishing application was written in Visual Basic.Net with XML. Whilst writing this application I was included in all steps of the project life cycle to which I wrote the project and help documentation.
