As Director of Operations, responsible for both operations and marketing at a critical time when the venture-backed CPG and Tech startup was at a high-growth stage preparing for Series A. Brought Amazon operations in-house, increasing margins and streamlining logistics. Managed agency relationships, successfully repositioned the brand in the market, and led efforts for the a corresponding re-brand and development of new DTC CPG website and collateral.

Together Bar is a retail and DTC organic functional nutrition bar brand with the mission of raising funds and awareness for underserved non-profits. As founder, I'm involved with all aspects of building this CPG brand, executing channel strategies, growth plans, and P&L management.

Working for the Commissioner, Virginia Department of Veterans Services, developed the strategic plan for how the Commonwealth of Virginia can better support veteran and spouse entrepreneurs. Developed an annual veteran pitch competition. Created a veteran entrepreneur education plan, and personally assisted hundreds of Virginia veterans with their marketing plans and small business strategies.

Led the agency B2B and B2C marketing efforts for PrimaLoft, Inc., the global technology leader in synthetic down insulation and performance fabrics, with a focus on North America, Europe, and Asia. Along with managing daily relationship with PrimaLoft client, oversaw agency staff, developed creative work, built and delivered presentations, as well as managed the digital and social media partner agency, providing leadership and management for all aspects of the brand’s digital marketing efforts.

Founded the sustainable home furnishings manufacturer, Craft and Grain, serving the East Coast of the United States. Craft and Grain is a full-service design/build shop that focuses on handcrafted, high-end consumer and commercial products with a commitment to reclaimed and repurposed materials.

As marketing director for the non-profit, I helped the organization synchronize communications with the overall brand in mind, including establishing a strong brand identity, direct marketing program, social media foothold, and a highly successful awareness campaign.Very early on in this position it became clear to me that the organization was struggling with growth because of the unique issue they served. They needed to find a way to share company resources and inform a larger audience. To achieve this, I led the conceptualization, design and development of an awareness campaign called 1BlueString. The goal was to raise general awareness of the cause, provide those affected with a conversation starter, and eventually, to funnel those affected and their families to the 1in6.org website to find resources. The campaign launched in November 2012 and outpaced performance goals by a factor of seven. 1BlueString is now a global campaign and a centerpiece of the 1in6 communications/growth effort.

Consulted for 1in6, Inc., a Los Angeles-based non-profit, in a marketing capacity with a focus on brand positioning, media, advertising, and campaign development/management.Wrote and self-published a successful memoir and four fiction novellas.

In my role as Senior Account Executive at The Martin Agency, I managed the day-to-day marketing operations (Strategic Planning, Creative Production and Development, and Financial Management) for clients ESPN and BFGoodrich, in addition to project work for clients Wal-Mart and MillerCoors.In my role as Account Supervisor for MVPGROUP, the sports marketing division of The Martin Agency, I was responsible for new business efforts and the successful day-to-day management of the CARFAX, Primal Quest, and AXA Financial sports marketing accounts.

While attending Arizona State's Full Time MBA program, I worked part-time at both the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations where I was involved with revenue generation and marketing and operations management of community programs.

I started my Navy career as the Strike and Reconnaissance Intelligence Officer for VF-31, an F-14D fighter/attack squadron assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln. After one tour highlighted by a Persian Gulf cruise, I moved on to NIMA, a then joint-command in Washington, D.C. managing national assets in support of worldwide intelligence efforts. After the events of 9/11, I spent the next 7 months at USCENTCOM in Bahrain, supporting OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM until April 2002, when I returned and left the Navy to pursue a career in business.
