Outpatient Counselor And Art Therapist
CurrentThe outpatient counselor is in charge of managing a caseload of 35 clients maximum. During time with clients, the counselor is responsible for assessing any additional outpatient services required to assist a client with their recovery process, such as MES, COE, and more. Counselors are expected to update state required documentations and clinical notes for each engagement occurred with the client and their families. Counselors provide professional individual, family, and group counseling. Since joining the team at St. Luke’s Penn Foundation I have been incharge of running IOP level of care groups along with one-to-one sessions. I also was able to provide clients the opportunity to offer them new support to the recovery process by utilizing art therapy practices. Clients have been offered an opportunity to begin engagement in a 3-hour art therapy group or use art therapy during the individual sessions. Art therapy in this setting is used with traditional recovery programming as an opportunity to learn through action and reflection.
