Responsibilities:- Act as product owner, technical product owner, solutions architect, specialist developer, devops engineer, development team manager on a shift of the university's core critical unique competitive advantage research systems products to Product Management, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, SAAS, PAAS, IAAS and sustainability- Act as the data specialist for the universities Excellence in Research Australia reporting to federal government ensuring we represent the impact, quantity and quality of UQ research in comparison with all competing universitiesAchievements:- Re-architected an estimated “lift and shift” of core critical research systems (UQ eSpace) to a in-production AWS bill ten times less in ongoing cost via taking advantage of AWS services such as S3, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, ECS, Fargate, WAF, Aurora, Reserved and Spot Instances and Lambda- Guided various projects architectures towards API-first architectures utilising Lambda and Serverless approaches to have as little dependence on operations as possible- Achieved a best ever qualitative and quantitative representation of UQ’s research output to the ERA federal government 4-yearly report so we cement our place as a worldwide top 50 university- Performed code reviews, mentoring and guidance for developer and devops team members- Delivered improved Application Error Management (via Sentry SAAS)- Delivered a React/Material UI frontend and Laravel/Typescript+Lambda backend reference architecture and associated teams for all ongoing internal development- Lead frontend and backend teams to deliver UX based releases of the UQ research systems (UQ eSpace) including researcher and public interfaces MVP and subsequent continuous improvements- Implemented improved communications organisation wide via implementation of Slack including integrations with all developer tools, and improving developer to product owner communication- Improved quality via 100% code coverage testing targets
