We monitor, guide, and engineer biological responses using advanced materials to revolutionize modern healthcare. We work with government, academic, and industrial partners to advance unique and state-of-the-art health science technologies.

I am currently the Director of Biotech at Luna Labs, part of Luna Innovations Incorporated, and am responsible for managing a team of Principal Investigators and Innovators across a wide range of health science R&D. My group of 26 innovators in Charlottesville and Danville, VA includes early-stage R&D for wound healing and regenerative medicine, pharma and diagnostics, water analysis, and medical simulation technologies and products. We work with government, academic, and industrial partners to advance unique and state-of-the-art health science technologies. Our partners include the United States Army Medical Research & Materiel Command, the US Army Institute of Surgical Research, the Defense Health Agency, the US Navy, US Air Force, National Institutes of Health, Harvard University, the University of Virginia, the STORM Eye Institute, the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Indiana University, Charles River Labs, Davinci, Curie Co., and many others.

Biomaterials Group, Polymers Division, MSEL Labs, National Institute of Standards and Technology. Research revolved around directed assembly of tissue engineering constructs and the effect of scaffold dimensionality on human bone marrow stromal cell differentiation.

Pioneered the development of a competition-based disassembly system for the programmed redispersion of DNA-linked particle assemblies. Work involved characterization and optimization of the disassembly process and kinetics utilizing various biochemical processes such as DNA hybridization, enzymatic manipulation, etc. Research is now background for work involving novel multi-therapeutic drug delivery systems, single mismatch genetic detection systems, pathogen detection systems, and a novel cell capture-and-release tissue culture surface. Served as a primary mentor for multiple undergraduate students.

Independent undergraduate researcher in lab of Dr. C.P. Wong. Work revolved around the development, characterization, and testing of high capacity materials, lead-free solders, and high performance underfills all for flip-chip packaging technologies. Extensive experience on rheology, mechanical testing, and electrical testing. Work was published in journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Advanced packaging and presented at multiple conferences.
