The wound-healing and regenerative properties of these limbal epithelial progenitor cells were also investigated and described. Research into the causes and mechanism of action of Ocular Rosacea was further explored, as was the potential role of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSc) for treatment of ocular disease and injury.

DRIVE Researcher (Diabetes Reversing Implants for enhanced Viability and long-term Efficacy). DRIVE is a pan-European research project involving 14 partners across 7 countries funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The DRIVE consortium represents a multidisciplinary collaboration between stem and β-cell biologists, transplant clinicians, biomaterials and drug delivery experts. Its aims to develop smart cell and biomaterial based therapies and which may be used to enhance pancreatic islet transplantation for those suffering from diabetes mellitus. My role within DRIVE is to answer the need for an unlimited source of insulin-producing cells which cannot currently be met by donor islets, by developing and optimising methods to differentiate induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSc) towards insulin-producing pancreatic islet-like cells.
