I am a Senior Liberal Studies Major at Viterbo University. I started my college career as a Nursing Major but though experience in classes I found my hidden passion for Counseling. I have been working in nursing homes for almost four years and love every minute of it, I love having the ability to form connections with individuals who need someone to vouch for them. I specifically love working in the memory unit, with individuals with decreased brain function and cognitive inabilities. For my future, I am wanting to become a mental health/substance abuse counselor that works with the youth and adolescents population. I want to target the middle school age range and help them with the ability to find good coping mechanisms for their mental health and family dynamic instead of turning to substance abuse.
