I have wide-ranging experience within the not-for-profit and publishing sector along with 20 years of communications, audience development and senior management skills. My current areas of focus are marketing, digital and data. At the International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED) I manage the audience development and marketing strategy to increase understanding within IIED to reach and engage key stakeholders and audiences in all areas of work. The strategy I have implemented identifies, profiles, targets and listens to our audiences, strengthening our relationships and increasing our impact and influence. I work alongside IIED’s researchers to develop communications strategies and integrated marketing plans to connect with key stakeholders via a range of marketing channels using relevant and timely messages. I am responsible for institutional marketing to help raise the profile of the organisation and support its positioning. This includes managing IIED’s flagship events such as the bi-annual Barbara Ward Lecture and the Development and Climate Days two-day workshop at the Climate COP for 350 international participants. I am also part of IIED's brand management team. I manage the marketing team, the data team and the web team at IIED, who implement our marketing plans across all IIED work, monitor and evaluate our communications data so we know what works and what we need to improve, and develop and manage our digital presence across all platforms.Recent projects include building a greater understanding of who IIED's audiences are, establishing KPIs for our communications strategy, developing an online giving function for the organisation, re-working our social media strategy in the face of Twitters changes and many more.
