As an accomplished analyst with a passion for government, I am invested in contributing to effective governance through evidence-based program evaluation and policy design. I have an advanced understanding of political institutions, public administration, economics, and statistics gained while earning a Masters in Public Policy. Over the past 5 years working in public policy in non-profit organizations and state government, I have provided useful research, analysis, and program recommendations and demonstrated the ability to communicate complex information in a way that is easy to understand. After evaluating program effectiveness and budget alignment with agency goals, I made recommendations to the Governor for 15 state agency budgets and presented the Governor’s final budget recommendations to the Legislature. As part of a statewide effort to advance outcomes-based policy-making, I led a collaborative effort to identify 41 outcome measures for the 10-Year Plan for Oregon and displaying them online with interactive data visualizations. As a Lead Research Analyst, I have applied rigorous research methods to understand policy impacts. I have also used my ability to understand complex systems, identify areas that can be improved, and create innovative means to find solutions. Upon learning that policy-makers lacked a way to see how government programs for low-income individuals work together, I created a social policy simulation by integrating nearly 100 formulas into a single tooI. Now Oregon’s policy decision makers can see estimates for federal and state taxes, tax credits, and public assistance benefits in one place by entering basic household information.Going forward, I hope to continue driving innovation in policy design and program deliveryby serving as a bridge between research analysts and decision-makers, allowing both to make sense of complex policy choices and implement solutions.
