A social media network for gardeners around the world, YourGardenShow.com was a finalist in at SXSW 2011, which singled out YourGardenShow as one of five “social networks and wikis that have quickly developed an extraordinarily active multi-user community and an exceptional following of users."Our goal was to create a green corridor through the USA (and the world) - by connecting all types of gardeners - sharing our experiences and growing good through doing well. As part of the founding team, I worked on international outreach, branding, communications - and blog writing too! Unfortunately, after years of hard work, Your Garden Show has left the Internet, and is no longer in operation.

As a founding member of the THNK team, I was in charge of setting up the marketing and communications for this new school for creative leadership, starting as a freelancer, but later as director. Including branding, website, blog and newsletters - right up to p.r. and the launch event (with royalty among our guests!). All with an international focus - and with great designs by Lava.

As part of the founding team of THNK, I was asked to oversee the creation of their brand identity. Once I gained the right insights, I briefed and worked closely with the award-winning design agency Lava to create THNK's dynamic visual identity. I also worked closely with LBi and Boris Nauta to create and maintain their website, www.thnk.org.

Democrats Abroad is the overseas branch of the U.S. Democratic Party. My work included:- setting up work groups- organizing events, including election nights with Boom Chicago- branding and communications- press relations- community building

For the first time ever, Americans living abroad were able to register to vote with online help - as we tapped into the world's concern about the Bush/Kerry election and their willingness to tell their American friends to vote. This was a great success with lots of newspaper, tv and radio coverage from Japan to the USA, including CNN, the Wall Street Journal, NOS, etc. This project also inspired the founding of www.OverseasVoteFoundation.org and www.VoteFromAbroad.org (with me on their branding team).

Working together with the directors, Anne Wertheim and Monique Knapen, I helped the John Adams Institute when it was still a struggling literary lecture series - and was even instrumental in getting them online with their very first website. I also initiated and organized their Amsterdam Writer's Workshops. I loved every minute of this challenge, especially having the opportunity to meet so many of my literary heroes in person.
