Interned at ConChem during the 2015-16 Winter Break, before going on the South African study abroad with WKU. This South African company imports speciality raw materials for the plastics industry. It was an informative experience at a time when the already volatile South African Rand was experiencing significant daily fluctuation against the US Dollar. An understanding of Letter of Credits, Forward Exchange Contracts, import logistics and the trading risks associated with an unstable currency was achieved.
