Once the College courses had been accredited and kicked off Sept 2023 with a full pipe of applications, I shifted my focus to build partnerships with corporates and organisations aligned with CareChamp's values to empower and educate African women. I joined forces with 3 other ladies (mid-pandemic!) to tackle the sanitation crises in South Africa. We founded Flamingo Sanitation Solutions (FSS) a not-for-profit to develop a sanitation solution for use in informal areas lacking access to piped sanitation. Our focus being on creating dignity and safety for women and children. Other major concerns to address:• the humanitarian crises in the informal settlements – constant threat of diseases and the risk of violent attacks when using communal toilets • unemployment issues within informal settlements and uplifting these communities through job creation • the environmental hazards in the surrounding areas and the contamination of scarce natural water resources • removing the waste from the failing waste-water plants to repurpose into carbon neutral products to sustain and subsidise the servicing elementKey responsibilities and highlights:Oversee and drive operations in most aspects of this start up: o Business model and strategy development o Research – desktop and survey of 400 households (quantitative & qualitative) o Product design and prototyping of toileto Marketing & Communications  Establish and grow digital presence – producing assets and creating content for online and social platforms o Partnership and funder programmes - community outreach, partnerships and funder opportunities and pitcheso Supporting CEO to trial experimentation of waste-to-value experiments with biolabs (Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative) • Flamingo Sanitation Solutions was selected as a finalist for the CDI (Craft & Design Institute) RE:SOLVE Challenge 2022 Purpose-led innovation – a learning programme, incubator and grant fund – received funds to prototype the Flamingo Loo design • Winner of the CDI RE:SOLVE Challenge 2022 (August 2022)

I joined this Shuttleworth Foundation funded non-profit to launch a youth focused print publication, the content of which is created entirely by young South Africans looking to improve their employability through a mentorship programme. This progressed into a purely online platform for many socially minded campaigns and programs - spearheaded by the development of the Digify programme (a 3-month digital boot camp to bridge the digital divide), the localization and piloting of which I headed up in SA. My key responsibilities and highlights:• Digify became Livity's primary funding source from Google SA, Google Africa, Rockefeller Foundation & The British Council. Digify expanded to Lagos, Nairobi and Botswana. It also won a Bookmark for Best Contribution to Transformation in the Digital Industry in 2017 & 2019. • Supporting CEO to expand this part-funded social enterprise to becoming self-sustaining and commercially competitive. 11 years later, Digify is still thriving and has branched off into many formats to accommodate varying degrees of digital literacy and education required across South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. • Business development - creative briefs and solutions for clients, brands and corporates across all media platforms (print, mobile handsets and social networks)• Reporting on funder contributions and budgets • Managing and reporting on project and client budgets • Managing project coordinators and lead mentors • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and suppliers • Continually improving the processes of this start-up to become more stream-lined and profitable
