• Building effective partnerships within assigned client groups including developing a strong understanding of the client's services.• Providing expert advice and specialized knowledge to HR colleagues and operational partners regarding RTW and rehabilitation issues for complex MH files. Providing expert advice on employer and employee rights and obligations in the area of disability case management applying the applicable policies, collective agreements, relevant DTA legislation, and WCB regulations. • Building a therapeutic alliance with employee by using strategies such as motivational interviewing and trauma informed practice/language to assess, identify and refer to appropriate treatment with third party treatment providers. • Obtaining clarification of medical R&Ls and prognosis for work; determines fitness to work based on careful analysis of medical restrictions and limitations and demands of job; applies due diligence in management of accommodations requests.• Working with employees to better understand the impact of mental illness and providing practical ways to cope with the effects of MH.• Offering expert consultations to managers, HR and others with regards to physical and psychological health issues in the workplace. Providing education on the benefits of workplace rehabilitation through methods such as 1-1 or group discussions.• Conducting a task and physical job demands analysis to determine the appropriate job for various employee conditions. • Remaining current on DM trends and best practices through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations and attendance at workshops and education programs.• Utilizing operational partner feedback to continually improve delivery of services. • Participating in the development of operating budgets for additional rehabilitation services and case management support; prepares and presents service proposal to Manager for final sign off.

• Managing all health-related absences from work and/or manager the medical accommodation process, including making timely decisions on eligibility and entitlement and ensuring the proper documentation• Providing early, ongoing and appropriate support to maintain an employee’s connection with the workplace and/or to facilitate their return to work in a safe and timely manner• Actively supporting the process for WorkSafeBC claims and Long Term Disability claims• Creating and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders by utilizing effective communication skills, including some core clinical counselling skills (such as: re-stating, empathizing, and validating) • Addressing all barriers to return to work (medical, personal, vocational and/or workplace)• Managing a diverse, complex case load with multiple priorities• Collaborating with employees, managers, HR business partners, LR, and the Union to establish professional relationships and a collaborative approach to assist in recovery and a safe and timely return to work• Representing the interest of the employer during communication on specific disability cases with various external stakeholders

• Providing psycho-education to clients regarding the limitations and benefits of a short-term counselling model • Providing psycho-education to employers regarding services offered and immediate steps to take following a critical incident at the workplace• Utilizing motivational interviewing skills in order to gage client readiness for engaging in short-term counselling • Providing emotional support and empathy with clients and balancing both support and assessment in each client interaction• Recommending immediate resources and providing psycho-education to clients regarding outside organizations/resources that would fit clients’ immediate needs• Conducting suicide risk assessments to determine the level of risk the client is presenting with and safety planning with the client to ensure immediate needs are being met (including making recommendations for medical care and follow up support)• Consulting with clinical managers regarding clients presenting with risk and clients with complex needs and presenting issues

Recreational therapist for seniors with Dementia, MD, Parkinson's Disease, MS, and ALS.• Planning, developing, and facilitating recreational programs for clients in the Adult Day Program• Observing changing behaviours in assigned clients with severe Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Acquired Brain Injuries through note taking• Completing monthly reports on each client on the progress of each client, based on observable behaviours and whether or not goals for the period are reached or not• Researching and attending education sessions, provided by Fraser Health, in order to learn occupational therapy skills for supporting clients with various health issues• Building relationships of trust and care with clients by using counselling skills, such as: empathetic understanding, when clients are feeling frustrated by short-term memory loss or other related symptoms, and unconditional positive regard, when clients are aggressive verbally or physically during times of deep confusion • Providing a safe environment where clients can enjoy a social setting, outside the home, and take part in recreational and therapeutic activities
