In my position as a rock climbing wall attendant, I work with climbers to help ensure their safety, guide them, and teach them to reach their full potential. Through giving thorough orientations to establishing their safety every step of the way, I get to connect to a community of new and recurring rock climbers where we all get to learn from each other and support each other. Working with top ropes and auto-belay systems, there is a wide variety of tasks done to maintain the wellbeing of all climbers and the Campus Recreation Facility in general.

As an Honors College TA, I support first year UIC students by helping them to make the most out of their college experience. Through showing them resources that they have available to helping them improve upon skills like resume making, my goal is to help to set the students up for success for their remaining time at UIC. As a TA, I share my experience with them, create an open space for them to share their experiences, lead discussions on a variety of topics ranging from cultural awareness to campus events, assist in grading assignments, and hold office hours for the students to ask for additional support.

Intern at an NSF funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at University of Illinois at Chicago. Over the course of the summer, interns plant and sample milkweed from parks around the greater Chicago area to study the importance of the Chicago area in the migration of Monarch butterflies. Through field work, taking research methods and data science classes, and cultural classes through the Latino Cultural Center, interns have the opportunity to broaden their cultural understanding and connect different experiences to biology.
