Big Lottery Family Learning Development WorkerNottinghamshire County Council Nov 2009 - Dec 2012I ensured contract compliance with the BIG Lottery Fund Family Learning requirements. I worked with partners to ensure that an exciting an innovative program of activity was offered to families within the target areas of the County. Liaising with related services and organisations to ensure best value is achieved and good practice shared. I had to have a high degree of familiarity with BIG contractual requirements and had to ensure that the programs delivered, at all stages complied with BIG contractual requirements, ensuring record keeping, monitoring and evaluation were in accordance with the approved scheme. I assisted and supported recruitment strategies of parents / carers within the target settings. I had to plan and develop models of Family Learning to support the delivery of the project liaising with schools, libraries, children's centers, play groups, youth clubs etc. I arranged regular meetings of the BIG Steering Group, prepared and presented progress reports. Undertook monitoring visits to project activity (to ensure compliance with contract requirements in terms of content, quality and data gathering requirements) and prepared written reports with action plans on the outcome. Supporting providers to assist them with the planning and provision of initial assessment of learners, where appropriate and to ensure targeting was being done adequately and learner needs were met. I liaised with partners to ensure that all participants had access to advice and information on further learning opportunities. I arranged for independent evaluation of the project activity to be undertaken on an annual basis. I had to ensure synergy of project activity with the ACLS LSC funded activity by close liaison and communication with appropriate ACLS staff members. I had to input data relating to the project into a database as and when required. I also promoted and marketed the opportunities afforded by the BIG project. -
Health Development SpecialistCounty Durham & Darlington Nhs Foundation Trust Jan 2009 - Nov 2009Band 6 I planned, promoted, co-ordinated, delivered and evaluated the North East Regional Weaning Programme as part of the North East Strategic Health Authority Big Lottery Fund Well-Being Portfolio, For the South of the North East. The geographical locations I encompassed in the south are: Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, County Durham and Darlington. I co-ordinated the Weaning Network Forums in each Practice Based Commissioning Cluster and Worked closely with Health Visiting teams to ensure endorsement of weaning messages and consistent information is provided to parents. I attended and participated in the Regional Steering Group which also covers the North. I delivered presentations highlighting complex information to key partners engaged in early year's nutrition. I have amended the piloted design for the cascade training programmes and deliver this to increase the capacity of people able to deliver weaning courses to the parents, I provided regular monthly, quarterly and annual reports to my Line Manager, Steering Group, and am involved in the completion of the Big Lottery Fund and North East Strategic Health Authority monitoring and evaluation forms. I analyzed local health data to target the weaning programme to areas with the highest levels of deprivation and health inequalities as identified through Community Health Profiles. I developed and conducted monitoring and evaluation, including impact, process and outcome, qualitative and quantitative methods. I was responsible for the day to day delivery of the regional weaning programme ensuring that time scales were maintained and that targets were met. I worked with local partners to encourage sustainability of the regional weaning programme. I provided specialist training to PCT staff and partner organisations in statutory, voluntary and community sectors to increase knowledge and skills in diet and nutrition for infants and their families. -
Community Food WorkerNhs Milton Keynes Mar 2008 - Jan 2009I worked in a deprived area that had been found to have an extremely low intake of fruit and vegetables; my target was to increase fruit and vegetable consumption by 10% and overall to lower health inequalities such as obesity and CHD. This was done on a small budget which I managed. The schools in the area hadn't achieved the healthy school status so I was supporting the schools with the healthy eating part of this, in which I managed to achieve the status, including the largest school in the country. I was working with all age groups to achieve a healthy sustainable community through working with existing groups and implementing new educational sessions to ensure that skills and knowledge were improved. Before I began to put programmes into place I did extensive needs analysis of the area. I also recruited and supported and trained volunteers to extend community sessions, once the foundations had been set up, including a community breast feeding and weaning group. I was also working with local retailers to offer and promote healthier food choices. Alongside my colleague who was working on an exercise referral scheme I helped to produce a pilot course by producing the nutritional element of this educational package to educate the children and their parents about healthy eating, food choices labelling etc. I also attended MEND training and an eating Disorders course. I carried out an alcohol awareness display, including interactive display at health events. I was also working with Inter-agency groups, i.e. extended schools coordinators, other members of the public health team, Health visitors, Nurses, Dietetics department, children's centres, community mobilizers, community and voluntary organizations and closely working with the commissioning team.
