Co-directed a Community Science Workshop - an afterschool program for low-income and minority youth to explore their world and bring their ideas to life through hands-on science and making. Worked with the founding team, board members, and staff to grow the nonprofit program from a small pilot project to a vibrant and in-demand 25hr/week afterschool program. Developed a new set of science and engineering projects each week for youth ages 6-18 and their families. Led special programs for visiting groups and community partners. Worked one-on-one with drop-in kids to kindle their curiosity, nurture their confidence, and bring their ideas to life. Worked with community members to build exhibits and develop the natural history collections. Co-managed teen employees and college interns, helped recruit and trained graduate student volunteers, and cultivated partnerships with other local organizations working with underserved youth. Wrote grant applications and reports, led development initiatives, and participated in strategic planning.

Worked with a team of educators to train a cohort of Saudi college students and professionals, introducing them to interest-based learning, design thinking, and constructivism. Co-wrote a Design Lab program curriculum combining engineering process with creative thinking and problem solving. Facilitated project-based interdisciplinary learning with 60 female Saudi high school students. Many of the girls started out skeptical that they would enjoy engineering or be any good at it, and were won over by the creative, playful approach and the focus on solving problems that are meaningful to them.

Worked with a small team of science educators to launch the charismatic mobile science program "The Physics Bus" that has brought joy and science amazement to over 40,000 visitors. Delivered mobile outreach visits to schools, libraries and community events locally and nationally. Trained volunteers of all ages and mentored middle and high school students in building science exhibits. Co-presented at the American Physical Society conference in New Orleans and was invited to Beijing with fellow Physics Bus founders to share our unique public engagement methods.

Lead Instructor for a 37 week afterschool enrichment program from 2012-2014 with a focus on STEM enthusiasm and literacy for teenagers in an underserved rural community. Developed and delivered activities that reflected the interests of the teens, ranging from forensic science to creative projects. Returned in subsequent years as a guest science presenter, and in the summers taught at the library's enrichment camp for ages 6-10 to promote nonfiction reading and a lifelong love of learning.

Taught arts and cultural enrichment programs for grades 1-5 through the OMNI Program, primarily exploring Africa and China, but also Pre-Columbia, Japan, and Tibet. The program used hands-on study of artifacts, combined with critical viewing of contemporary art, to engage students in the rich history and complexity of the particular cultures. Delivered in-school presentations, led gallery tours and art making workshops, and assisted traditional artists and dancers. Trained docents and developed new program components, such as Science and Invention in Ancient China and a touch-cart of materials used in African masks for tactile learners.

Founding member and Education Director of a nonprofit community-based Makerspace.Coordinated education offerings at the intersection of art, science, engineering, design, and entrepreneurship for all ages. Recruited and supported instructors, scheduled events, worked with volunteers and education interns, and evaluated programs. Taught after-school, evening, and weekend programs for children and families on subjects ranging from chemistry to wearable electronics. Increased diversity and access to makerspace resources by running a weekly free tinkering program for underserved and under-represented youth, and co-directing a physics and engineering summer camp for girls.
