Redundancy due to COVID-19

Undertaking the role of asbestos administrator in the interim between training the new administrator as well as in the role of the asbestos survey administrator, to allow the roles to continue while the new staff were learning the role. These roles involved works on Notifiable asbestos projects of differing value and complexity. Organising different types of with different client’s surveys to book in for the surveyor. Working on the TEAMS software to ensure the survey information was available for the surveyor when required. Taking the lead on a groundwork's project from estimation, tender through to order from the client. Then educating the contracts manager and QS in the project to allow them to take on the works onsite and compiling the applications. Working closely with the Demolition manager on many estimates compiling bill of quantities, programmes, chasing up specific site details to allow the works to be priced and creating the tender package to be submitted to the client on time.

Working with delegated authority from the Managing Director and responsible for the day to day operations of the business.Resource Management including work allocation, recruitment, sub-contractor contracts and timesheets, leave management, onboarding/offboarding, Training and Certification management.Site management and task level supervision of operatives, including Health and Safety.Project/Work management, estimating, agreeing formal changes to scope and subsequent day works or informal scope changes/additions within existing budget.Collating valuations and agreeing variations prior to invoicing, including record keeping of works completed and evidence compilation.Creation of RAMS and collation of Health and Safety documentation.Budget management, including project accounting and cost analysis.Subcontractor, vendor and supplier management.Client relationship management and business development, through multiple channels including social media, website and traditional printed media. Managed the redesign and relaunch of the company website.

As a member of the Facilities Team, deputise for the Head of Facilities Management and support the FM team in the provision of first class facilities to enhance the customer experience on site and specifically, provide lead Project Management and support to assigned Projects and Work Packages; in idea development and in Project delivery across the College.

It started out managing the asbestos at the FSC but I have now branched out into demolition and construction projects. My latest skills have been dedicated to planning applications for demolitions and land sale agreements, which involve preparing and liaising with surveyors, fencers and FSC colleagues. New projects and work packages are in constant flow on this site from asbestos removal and demolition of accommodation blocks to redecorating various areas of the college with some painting here and there. What project will I get tomorrow who knows, but I'm intrigued to find out!

Smiths have 8 divisions however our two divisions are centered around demolition and asbestos. We believe that they both go hand in hand. We have had our asbestos license since 2006 and we are proud to have our license renewed for a further three years.We have a team of 6 operatives of varying experience and boost them from time to time with Agency labour as and when required. Smiths are also specialsits in surveying and sampling as well as disposal.
