Emerging Minds develops mental health policy, services, interventions, training, programs and resources in response to the needs of professionals, children and their families. My work includes providing research support and management of project components in the development of workforce training materials and resources, as well as in connecting these resources with the range of workforces who connect with children and families.

I worked in the Fraser Mustard Centre team, led by Dr Sally Brinkman on their commitment to the work plan of The Early Intervention Research Directorate (EIRD). Establishment of the EIRD represents the South Australian Government's primary response to The Life They Deserve: Child Protection Systems Royal Commission Report (Nyland report).

Health Systems Research, Sahmri. Adelaide

At SAHMRI, I managed the ongoing roll-out of a national cardiac procedures and devices registry. This involved engaging hospitals to encourage participation in the registries and managing relationships, the ethics and local governance processes of 130 sites. My role also included training sites in the use of online data entry portals and supporting their data submissions going forward, including options for bulk data submissions. I prepared reports and updates for funding bodies and governance, as well as internal project documentation.

Sahmri

I worked in the Health Economics and Social Policy Group (HESPG), led by Prof. Leonie Segal. The group applies health economics to important health, wellbeing and social issues. I worked as the main researcher on a project exploring the Real Cost of Training Health Professionals, which resulted in a report, publication and conference presentation. I also provided research support on the Mental Health Prevention Workforce and Services Planning project.

I conducted a scoping research project on the wellbeing and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children under the Guardianship of the Minister, both groups who are entitled to early entry to preschool. During this time I liaised regularly with the client at Department of Education and Child Development South Australia (DECD) to discuss progress and direction. I wrote a final report, presented to DECD, which included a literature review, scoping of data sources and presentation of data I had gathered and analysed from published and readily available sources.

At Health Workforce Australia, I worked in the Information, Analysis and Planning team responsible for workforce data collection, management, research and supply and demand modelling. I worked on various health workforce planning and research project including the major Health Workforce 2025 supply and demand modelling reports, and the Oral Health Workforce project. Moreover, I was responsible for managing the production of the Medical Training Review Panel 17th Report (MTRP 17), which compiles data on all students, vocational trainees and fellows in Medicine in Australia. This was a significant undertaking requiring liaison with internal and external stakeholders and data custodians, managing large amounts of data and writing and resulted in a successful publication. My role at HWA included: conducting literature reviews and background research; writing reports, Board papers and other project documentation; the collection, management and analysis of data; project co-ordination and stakeholder engagement.

Managed several clinical audit projects which either evaluated the efficacy of a new procedure or monitored the treatment patterns provided by surgeons. This role included overseeing the collection, entry and management of data in large internal and online databases, reporting against contract deliverables, publication of research, as well as supervision of small team of staff and managing budgets and funding applications.

My role as research officer included data collection and entry into both online database and MS Access database, plus management of this database; stakeholder engagement and provision of help desk support; research and report writing; as well as broader project support tasks. During this role I also administered a surgeon survey, collated data and published results of the research.
