I work on the Machine Learning Experience Team!

In Spring 2023, I was the teaching assistant for both sections of CS 205 Software Engineering Lab. The lab was taught in C++. In Fall 2022, I was the teaching assistant for CS 203 Computer Organization lab. The lab was taught in C and assembly. In Spring 2022 I was the teaching assistant for an intro CS course which taught Processing (Java) in the context of creating computer games. The class size was 24 students and I was the only TA for the section. My responsibilities included:- Attending lecture to help students as they complete exercises in-class- Leading Mentored Study Group sessions, which were a combination of recitation and lab.

I conducted HCI research, investigating the effects that visual and auditory interruptions have when we multitask to improve interface design. My responsibilities included: - Implementing the experiment using Javascript - Thoroughly testing my program to minimize confounds and ensure precise timing- Establishing a new workflow for conducting research online so that research could continue despite COVID restrictions - Creating documentation so that the lab can continue to use this new workflow in the future - Daily scrum updates and weekly meetings with Prof Nees to maintain strong communication while working remotelyDuring the school year 2021-22: - I ran data collection for the experiment we designed over the summer. - I worked on an additional project on the perceptions of automated driver assist technology.- Professor Nees and I consensus coded 300 survey responses on mental models of driver assist tech. The findings will help improve UI design of vehicle and a paper on this topic has been submitted for publication.

I worked on the Content Engineering Team as a frontend software engineer. My project was focused on building survey end pages, which is the most trafficked URL on surveymonkey.com.For the project I:- reduced technical debt by migrating existing endpages from a legacy repo that uses python to a new repo that uses React, Typescript and JSS. - wrote technical sketches to propose ideas and receive feedback before coding. - built atomic components that can be used on all similar pages in the future to maximize reusability. - ensured pages were highly faithful to the figmas given by Design. - rebuilt the traffic distribution logic for serving the end page variations. - verified that end pages were working end to end using the Jest testing framework. My responsibilities also included: - reviewing my colleague's PRs and QA'ing their work. - participating in all team meetings (standup, backlog grooming, retro), just as a full time employee would.

I worked on Scrappi, a web extension for organizing your online research.My responsibilities included: - researching and testing machine learning solutions and 3rd party apis for Scrappi's post beta features.- conducting user testing. I documented 30+ bugs for dev team, which helped launch product form pre beta to private beta. - researching future features that would help Scrappi meet the needs of a target audience. - sitting in on weekly development meetings, deepening my understanding of the product which enabled me to suggest user friendly features like (auto citation, file system, hot keys).
