I joined Costain in April 2019, being seconded into CMDP - a joint Venture of Costain and MWH Treatment, as a Delivery Partner for Southern Water.

Completed PRI training in February 2017. Have participated in multiple review panels since this date. I aim to undertake 2 PRI dates per year, being part of a 3-person panel, reviewing 3-4 candidates per review date for C.WEM, CSci and CEnv charterships.

My parent company was Stantec UK, and I was seconded into CMDP - a Joint Venture of Costain and MWH Treatment, as a Delivery Partner for Southern Water (SW), helping to deliver wastewater solutions to improve the quality of the effluent entering the environment in Kent and East Sussex.I have helped CMDP achieve multiple regulatory compliance dates and help to maintain final effluent compliance during construction and commissioning at multiple wastewater treatment works in the SW Sussex & Kent region. Reporting directly to the Commissioning Manager, and assisting the CMDP Construction and Delivery Leads (C&DLs) and SW Project Managers:•Provide Process Support to site teams during construction and commissioning - liaising with CMDP staff; SW ETS Engineers and SW Operations Field Performance Managers and Process Scientists.•Monitoring analogue and digital site telemetry signals, to determine final effluent compliance & process optimisation.•Attend Progress; Commissioning and also sub-contractor Collaboration Meetings.•Assist site teams to develop commissioning plans; provide process review of Safe Control of Operations submissions and associated method statements. •Attend HAZOPS & ALMS.•Arrange and manage sampling activities to be carried out. •Carry out process commissioning on site, including managing sampling activities during commissioning and takeover testing (ToT).• Managing process start up and ensuring optimum operation of the plant during performance trials. • Write and submit ToT reports indicating the performance levels achieved meeting the client's ToT criteria. • Ensure all necessary commissioning documentation is produced in a timely manner and co-operate with Technical Documentation teams to ensure timely delivery of O&M manuals.

After working in 4Delivery I was seconded from MWH UK into the Southern Water SSP (Strategic Solutions Partner) in the Engineering and Technical Solutions (ETS) team (from Feb 2015), and worked on Outline Design Solutions for the AMP6 Wastewater Quality Schemes.My role involved*undertaking the design calculations for Wastewater Treatment Works (WTWs), based on project drivers, current site performance, current site capacity of existing assets and then designing the improvements required to meet the ever tightening environmental permitting requirements.*creating Compliance and Commissioning Plans, to assist in maintaining compliance throughout the construction and commissioning phase of projects.*creating Process Control Philosophies which state how the new equipment should integrate in to the existing system and be controlled. *working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team of engineers to produce design deliverables for Scoping/Optioneering/Outline Design, Detailed Design and then helping to Commission the new works and bring the facilities online.*reviewing documentation for other projects, to help ensure check and review processes are undertaken, and auditable.*Line management, undertaking twice yearly performance reviews, and regular monthly 1-2-1 sessions to monitor progression towards yearly goals.

I was seconded from MWH into the 4Delivery joint venture (Veolia, Costain and MWH) as a Senior Process Scientist/Senior Process Design Engineer to design and help commission multiple schemes, utilising different treatment processes on sites within the UK for Southern Water's AMP4, PR09 and AMP5 wastewater program. The role involved analysing scheme requirements based on project drivers, current site performance and assets, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with mechanical, electrical and civil engineers to prepare designs for a suitable upgrade to the site. I then helped to support site teams during construction in terms of maintaining final effluent compliance during construction, assisting the commissioning teams, to help bring the new facilities on-line and achieve the necessary client specification requirements for Takeover. *Scoping, Outline Design, Detailed Design. Duties involved capturing and collating asset and performance data, process design to meet new quality standards on existing treatment facilities. *Writing combined Commissioning and Compliance Plans, Control Philosophies and input in to HAZOP and ALMs.*Responsible for assisting Process Commissioning, monitoring final effluent compliance, operating plants through Takeover tests and providing process expertise for defect rectification. *Close co-operation with clients, contractors and suppliers required. [4D was created to deliver a significant part of the capital works programme for Southern Water under the regulatory AMP4 (Asset Management Plan 2005-2010). This was extended to 2015].

Proactive and reactive monitoring of WTW compliance via site analogue trend analysis, using PI and SCOPE; implementing appropriate solutions to problems; investigating compliance breaches and writing breach reports; compiling the ‘Failed and Critical Report’; liaising with Operational staff to help rectify process problems; optimising performance and efficiency of treatment processes; technical and analytical input into capital schemes; being involved with the commissioning teams in recent schemes-which have included the implementation of Nitrification and Denitrification sand filters to allow effluent to meet new EA and UWWTR consents; planning of procedures to ensure that compliance is maintained during impingements of processes; using Cognos to formulate and run reports; training Site Operators on various aspects of wastewater processes via presentations.

Techniques such as: the preparation, staining and microscopic examination of Cryptosporidium slides; chlorophyll extraction; the presumptive analysis of coliforms and the examination of activated sludge were utilized.I also worked 1 in 4 weekends in the Cryptosporidium laboratory from September 2001 until August 2008, as I was able to continue working in the laboratory to maintain my skills, until I left Southern Water and joined MWH.
