    In establishing a new director of communications role, I expanded and improved the marketing and communications efforts of Alexandria, Virginia’s waterfront arts anchor. I managed writing and consistency of brand message through print and e-marketing efforts including press releases, website, email campaigns, print advertising, and newsletters. I managed marketing of the art center through the development of a comprehensive media plan, and developed new methods of measuring effectiveness of media placement. I directed the design of print materials and the website, overseeing a graphic design assistant and webmaster. I managed two major annual events, the children’s Arts Safari event and an event I developed, Art Activated. I successfully coordinated internal communication to 240 artist members through email, members-only website postings and hard-copy notices.HIGHLIGHTS:‣ Created “Handcrafted Alexandria” collaborative marketing campaign, unifying Torpedo Factory with 15 Alexandria businesses specializing in art and fine crafts, craft supplies, and classes. Built partnerships and secured grant funding. Produced press releases, website content, email marketing, brochure, mailer, poster, promotional items and paid advertising. ‣ Created, curated and managed “Art Activated” event, pairing professional dancers with visual artists for in-studio performances, gaining media exposure and foot traffic to art center during the Alexandria King Street Art Festival.‣ Directed complete restructure and redesign of website from research through final execution with a consensus-building team-based approach, engaging board of directors, task force, website chair, webmaster and assistant. ‣ Doubled size of email list through launch of online registration and implementing email collection at all events.
