Statewide (Michigan)

I developed and delivered curriculum to promote better understanding of political processes, current policy issues, and strategies for greater citizen involvement. In this role, I focused on statewide ballot initiatives and climate change policy, particularly as it related to Extension and citizen engagement. I taught workshops on climate change communication, facilitation, and conflict management. My efforts all focused on empowering communities to address local issues.

In this role I wrote nonpartisan summaries and analysis of state legislation. I specialized in education, agriculture, and natural resources policy. I also authored white papers and served on work committees for policy.

I piloted the school's first Advanced Placement Language and Composition course and the first Contemporary Publishing course, a class designed around emerging technologies. I also co-founded and taught in the district's Communication Arts Centers, where we partnered with students to create original short films, stories, and poetry, with an emphasis on publishing and competitions.
