Guardant Health is a leading precision oncology company focused on helping conquer cancer globally through use of its proprietary tests, vast data sets and advanced analytics. As a bioinformatics scientist at Guardant Health in the IVD Development team I work as part of a large cross-functional team including wet lab, dry lab, and business staff to develop and launch new cancer genotyping products. I provide bioinformatics support on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) oncology diagnostic assays to help design and analytically execute experiments in support of regulatory submissions. This includes contributions to experimental and protocol design, statistical analysis of genomic data, and development of novel methods for determining quality and accuracy of cutting edge oncology tests.My specific role includes:-Working with molecular biologists to troubleshoot and analyze verification and validation experiments as part of FDA PMA submissions.-Designing and developing software tools to automate analytical procedures-Developing and applying statistical methods and procedures to describe and validate Guardant's technologies-Writing experimental protocols and reports in collaboration with the technology development group-Proposing and presenting detailed designs and written reports to cross-functional teams-Conducting feasibility analyses, including simulations drawing from a rich database of historical test results

Develop, lead, and troubleshoot NGS sequencing data analysis, specifically Duplex Sequencing data that aims at detecting low frequency mutations. Our bioinformatics team tests and improves genomic pipelines, manages analysis and interpretation of project data, and generates and presents data for internal research and external customers.

Master’s candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Steven Roberts studying epigenetic modifications in the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas. My Master's thesis research resolves the relationship between DNA methylation and transcriptional activity in this important aquatic invertebrate, which includes molecular and bioinformatics techniques. Defended thesis in November 2014.

Full-time research on marine phytoplankton dynamics for laboratory and field studies with Virginia Armbrust, Director of the School of Oceanography. Worked on a broad range of molecular, genomics and computational skills.
