About Claire Philip

Hi! I’m Claire, a children’s author, editor and publishing trainer based in the Lake District. I’ve worked in the book industry since 2008 and have worked as freelancer for the last six years. I have written and edited dozens of titles for various children’s publishers, including the Natural History Museum, Little Gestalten, DK, Miles Kelly, Watkins Publishing, Farshore and Quarto.Recent projects include:- An inclusion review for DK’s Food Around the World- An inclusion review for Quarto’s Lost Book of Undersea Adventure- Writing I Can Use My Potty for Arcturus Publishing (and planning three more titles)- Writing Pocket Guide to Moon Magic for Gemini Books- Writing Pocket Guide to Ayurveda for Gemini Books- Writing Book of Trees for Little Gestalten- Copyediting Book of Emotions for Little Gestalten- Language review for Collins Kids World Atlas- Proofread for How to Be An Eco Explorer for Watkins Publishing- Copyedit for Quiet Riot: True Tales of Shy Superheroes Who Changed the World for Watkins Publishing- Plus various sample spreads for Frankfurt sales materialI also run an editorial training and mentorship programme, Get into Children’s Publishing, to help people break into books. Participants have gone on to work for publishers such as Pearson, Hachette and Penguin.
