I am a Senior Curator within the Collections, Research and Learning directorate of Te Papa.

As Senior Curator of History at Te Papa I managed a team of 10 curators, collection managers, an archivist and contractors. The History collections at Te Papa include: Social History, Decorative Arts & Design, Fashion & Textiles, Technology, Philatley, Numismatics and Archives.

A great job at a great institution, I dedicated 10 years of my life to The Dowse. I had the privilege of contributing to the Dowse's leadership team, and shaping The Dowse through an exciting period of redevelopment, which included a $4 million building project and rebrand.Key curatorial projects during my time at The Dowse include: Respect: Hip Hop Aotearoa, Inside the Royal Wardrobe: Kristian Fredrikson's designs for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, The New Cool: an exhibition celebrating youth entrepreneurship and the magical A Costura Do Invisivel: the enchanted world of Jum Nakao in 2008.My responsibilities included:Developing and providing visitor experience programme services including• Leading the conceptual development and research for all visitor experiences• Leading the scheduling of the Museums programme• Reviewing and developing policy, procedures and strategies for concept development and research • Leading the development of the Museums’ collectionsDeveloping effective partnerships• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with people/ organisations that enhance the Museums ability to meet its strategic and business goals• Leading the Concept Development teams contribution to relevant programmes, conferences and publicationsLeadership and Management of People Capability• Management of a team of three providing an environment that allows them to perform at their best and continue to develop their skills• Provide a leadership role across the organisation supporting the organisations values and visionBusiness Planning and Financial Management• Contributing to the long term strategic and annual planning process • Managing the annual budget allocation and meeting reporting requirements
