Responsible for dealing with incoming enquiries from regional and national journalists, actively seeking proactive opportunities for media coverage and compiling media briefings and Q&A’s for specific issues. Main aim is to promote the Health Protection Agency and its core health protection messages, to its target audiences, including the public, the media, health professionals, local government and other local/regional agencies. Assist with media handling training with the region for staff, brief key media on the work of the agency and prepare communications strategies for key pieces of work. Prior to joining HPA, several years’ experience in voluntary sector organisations including leading nationally on complex child protection press issues and regional communications support throughout the North of England.
