Working as a Volunteer Officer I am responsible for delivering a high-quality volunteer service in line with Honeycomb’s mission and core values to provide a consistent volunteer experience which is enjoyable and rewarding for our volunteers.

The VOA is a non-profit alliance of multidisciplinary professionals whose sole aim is to promote better OA care. I sit on the advisory board in avoluntary capacity as an RVN with a passion for utilisation of nursing skills and knowledge to support the care of patients who have osteoarthritis.

I am part of the veterinary nursing professional development team focussing on supporting the development of primary care nurses through targeted CPD.

Working as an integral part of the senior leadership team responsible for our Primary Care business units across the UK. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), overseeing and directing excellent nursing leadership and engagement, clinical standards, client experience, education and clinical research within our primary care business units. This role is an integral part in the development and leading of the nursing strategy, working alongside local senior leadership teams and Operations, whilst ensuring that our Linnaeus values are demonstrated at all levels. The role involves setting the direction, building frameworks for consistent delivery across the business, gaining buy-in from key stakeholders and influencing the thought leaders in the organisation.

This is a key operational position responsible for the overall operations of primary care nursing within Linnaeus in alignment with the Regional Directors and Managing Directors. I work in conjunction with existing nurse management teams and Linnaeus central support to evaluate the nursing environment within the company’s primary care practices and make recommendations to ensure the delivery of quality service, optimal patient flow, safety and compliance with various standards of care

This was a sales position, where I covered the South East Region of the UK. My main products range revolved around anaesthesia and diabetes management. During my initial 5 weeks training, I was presented with the “Award of Excellence”.

I formed part of the internal verifier team and lecturer in veterinary nursing for a short term contract to teach one intake of ANA students

I was involved with direct line management including appraisals and recruitment. I was responsible for achieving and maintaining practice standards throughout the region and am responsible for staff compliance with health and safety. I was responsibly for internal marketing and promotions across the region. I continued to develop the training areas of my previous role, but with a larger impact on the referral vets, including, maintaining and updating client information and the initial development of our internet site and marketing. I worked within a budget and was responsible for individual contribution, generated from our branch surgeries.

During this period I worked towards and gained my diploma in advanced surgical nursing. I was the senior theatre nurse responsible for all neurology anaesthesia and post operative patient care plans, including patients receiving spinal and brain surgery. Working alongside one of Europe’s leading veterinary neurologists, I was actively involved in assisting during MRI and owner support. With the additional knowledge gained from the Diploma I was given the new position of training and development manager for our region consisting of one hospital and nine branch practices. The job involved the development and implementation of a training network for all nursing staff and the implementation of a consistent client care protocol throughout the region. I was responsible for promoting and supporting all referral veterinary surgeons and organising internal and external seminars which were sponsored by an external company. I obtained the RCVS assistant examiners qualification and formed part of the practical examiners team.

Working as a qualified assessor in a first opinion and referral hospital specialising in, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology and dentistry. I worked on a 6-week rota where my duties include, kennel duties, theatre duties, nursing clinics and emergency night nursing. I was responsible for all the student nurses training at various levels and I support assisting assessors with organising assessments and case log marking. I was also an Internal Verifier working as part of a small team supporting all of Goddard’s Veterinary Group practices.
