Marketing, Admissions & Customer Services Manager
Basingstoke, Hampshire
Responsible directly to the Principal, my team grew in scope and number from joining; I ultimately line managed 14 staff. We were responsible for almost all College ‘public facing’ activity, from traditional Marketing (print, web, social media, PR, schools liaison, events etc) through the Admissions processes to Customer Services (such as reception and part time course enquiries). Whilst at BCoT, I completed my Assessor qualification. From August 2016, I split my time 9/1 working as Head of Marketing and as Marketing Assessor. It is an interesting way to keep up my own professional practice and give me insights into the needs of other businesses. (I continued to train for BCoT for several years after I stopped being their Marketing Manager!).My responsibilities included:• To produce and carry out a robust annual Marketing plan that reflected the College’s Strategic Plan (from which the majority of my personal objectives were drawn). • To produce timely and accurate information, primarily in the form of website details and prospectuses.• Lead the team in the College Business Planning and Quality processes, including review/writing of Service Level Agreements and Self-Assessment Reports; these feed into whole College documents that were used, amongst other things, for Ofsted purposes and to inform Governors.• To gather market information that enabled us to promote the wide range of College services effectively to both public and business customers; these services range from courses and Apprenticeships to a Restaurant, a Nursery and hair & beauty salons, all open to the public.• Manage related suppliers including agencies, printing, photography and advertising buying.• Provide marketing advice and information to curriculum colleagues to help them ensure their ‘offer’ is fit for purpose.• Recruit and line-manage the team, including appraisal, target-setting and performance management (if required).
