I am currently employed as a primary school teacher and based in north County Monaghan, teaching 6th Class. I consider myself an energetic and passionate 21st century educator; constantly striving to employ new and exciting teaching methods. My skills include public speaking, organisation, time-management, communication and ability to work as part of a team. I am the co-coordinator of my school's STEM team which was one of 30 schools in Ireland to receive a Badge of Excellence for STEM Awareness from Science Foundation Ireland. Furthermore, I am the sole coordinator of a Creative Cluster wherein three local schools collaborate to explore coding and ICT.My passion for ICT led me to complete a Masters degree in Trinity College titled 'Technology and Learning'. The course focused on technology-mediated transformative learning experiences and involved instructional design, collaboration and critical reflection. In August 2019, I earned the Google Certified Educator Level 1 Certificate.In 2017, I was awarded the inaugural 'Bianca Ní Ghrógain' award from the Computers in Education Society of Ireland which recognised my innovation in classroom practices. This was awarded for my dissertation which explored the effectiveness of virtual reality as a tool to develop reading comprehension skills in primary school pupils.Since 2015, I have worked with CPD College as a course facilitator. My role involves overseeing online forums and providing support to participants in the 'Lights, Camera, Action' filmmaking course. This aligns with my interest in filmmaking, having won the 'Best Newcomer' award with my class at the 2018 National Fís Film Awards.Most recently, I was employed by Hibernia College as an ICT tutor. My role involves contributing to the design of courses, delivering presentations and assessing student submissions. I have also designed an ICT professional development course with Rahoo, designed to upskill primary teachers in the area of digital technologies.
