Claire Trottier is a philanthropist with an interest in science, health, climate change, and social justice. Claire serves on the board the Trottier Family Foundation, a private foundation that supports work related to climate change, science, education, and health. She is the Chair of the Board of the Welcome Collective, an organization she co-founded that supports newly arrived refugee claimants in Montreal. Claire is actively involved in advocating for wealth taxes and other progressive taxation measures to address wealth inequality. Claire has a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology and left her position as an Assistant Professor at McGill University in 2021 to dedicate her focus to philanthropy and advocacy. She was recognized for her innovative teaching practices and leadership in education through the SALTISE Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovations Award in 2018 and the Maude Abbott Prize in 2019.Claire is a breast cancer survivor and loves to read romance novels in her spare time.
