Communications Officer duties include:• Identifying, writing and sharing stories for media, online and printed publications • Engaging with parishes to help generate news stories to share across the diocese and to help streamline parishes’ communications strategies, and make recommendations• Working with the team to ensure content on Diocese of Truro website is attractive, clear and audience focused. • Involvement in the day-to-day operation of the social media accounts; • Assisting with identifying and sourcing a range of contributors for opinion pieces via the Diocese of Truro’s print and online mediums, and selectively making these attractive to other sites & publications; • Attending events, taking photographs and sourcing stakeholder input.

In this role I acted as a link between the local media and the lifeboat station and crew. When the lifeboat was launched I provided the media with information and updates through press releases, interviews, images and social media.I also promoted the local RNLI fundraising events that take place throughout the year.

Experience in:- Producing daily news stories for the voluntary sector in Cornwall using a word press website, RSS fed email bulletins and social media- Producing Signpost, a 24 page magazine for the voluntary and community sector in Cornwall- Researching, writing and distributing press releases- Preparing and supervising the production of printed and online materials including publicity brochures, handouts, promotional videos and photographs, films and multimedia programmes / case study materials and podcasts

Employed on a freelance basis to write monthly book reviews for Cornwall Today, a popular lifestyle magazine.
