Swiss Re is global re-insurer with subsidiary offices in the APAC region and approximately 300 employees based in ANZ. My role is to partner with the Life & Health and Property & Casual leadership teams to deliver on people related initiatives. The HR team comprises six resources based locally in Sydney with additional support provided regionally across APAC. In this role I have familiarised myself with global systems and processes and built relationships with senior stakeholders including the Chair and Board of Directors. The initiatives I have worked on to date include;• Implementation of regulatory changes; CPS511, FAR and Respect @ work,• Business unit restructure and reorganisation,• Preparation and submission of quarterly board papers, • Representation on external DEI working group in conjunction with the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), to address talent shortages across the insurance industry,• Designing content for strategic workshops in conjunction with senior stakeholders,• Active member of local mental health working group

Pacific Life Re is a global re-insurer, a division of the Pacific Life group based in the USA. The Pacific Life Re head office is in London, the Company also has offices across Asia and in Toronto. The Sydney branch opened in early 2015, I joined in September 2015 and set up the local HR function which involved;• Developing of a full suite of employee benefits• Implementing talent management, development planning and succession planning frameworks• HR policy development including WHS• Developing comprehensive onboarding and induction processes• Putting regulatory controls and systems in place as per APRA regulations• Development of global guiding principles and behaviours• Setting up associated HR systems and processes for UnderwriteMe; a subsidiary technology solutions company owned by Pacific Life Re Working as a member of the local leadership team with three direct reports my remit included:• Defining and implementing the local business unit HR strategy, Wellbeing strategy, Mental Health group and Corporate Social Responsibility strategy• Successfully implementing global HR initiatives and global stakeholder management, e.g., development of global principles and behaviours, smarter working initiative, job architecture project • Using employee engagement survey and occupational culture inventory outcomes to enhance the employee experience• Coaching the Managing Director and Leadership Team members to ensure resources are deployed efficiently and HR risks are minimised• Presenting to board members, co-ordinating the board Remuneration Committee and recruiting Non-Executive Independent Directors. • Scoping and implementing Workday; global HRIS system.• Set up of an HR shared services function in Asia
