The designation Adjunct recognizes individuals who make regular and significant contributions to teaching, research or scholarship at the University.

Imagine a pedagogy that enhances the natural flow of child development; that fosterscognitive and affective growth simultaneously; that children love to engage in; that helpsdevelops skills needed by members of a creative global community; that children use tomake their own meaning of material and appropriate it in a way that they becomeproducers of their culture rather than just consumers… Play is the leading edge ofdevelopment; in play children are always functioning beyond their currentdevelopmental level (Vygotsky, 1967). The goal, then, is to use play as a vehicle for development.In 2006 I started to design creativity playgroups for Muslim mothers and children in Saudi Arabia, aimed at nurturing a strong positive sense of Islamic identity through the combination of a beautiful, natural environment, warm relationships and pedagogies that draw development forward. With children, parents, and teachers, I have been incorporating new theories and practices into the original playgroup design, exploring and experimenting. Now, the playgroups are based upon weaving imaginary, dramatic and literary play into storytelling.

Enchanted Garden started as a wish shared amongst a group of dedicated mothers—a wish for a place where our children could develop all aspects of themselves, in an environment of motherly support. A place that combined the best of what the rest of the world has to offer, with our own Islamic values. Enchanted Garden grew into a thriving after-school activity center offering opportunities for creative stimulation, intellectual inspiration and physical challenge within a happy, progressive atmosphere. Today, Enchanted Garden offers a range of classes and programs including: Quran, art, book clubs in Arabic and English, languages including French and Arabic, sports like classical ballet and tae kwan do.
