At Five AI, a company building artificial intelligence powered software to develop autonomous vehicles, I provide strategic counsel and pragmatic actionable advice to senior stakeholders across the full spectrum of the company’s operations on a day-to-day basis. I deal with the legal aspects of all corporate, software (including SaaS) contracting, commercial partnerships, IP portfolio building & strategy, research collaborations, employee, real estate and compliance matters, including managing Five AI's data protection compliance. As well as establishing the legal function from its inception, I have navigated Five through its venture capital finance raising rounds, embedded effective processes that maximize efficient use of resources, manage our external legal and patent advisors, lead Five’s engagement with the Law Commission on the development of regulation of Autonomous Vehicles and Artificial Intelligence in the UK and act as Company Secretary and advisor to the Board. More recently, I handled the successful acquisition of Five AI by Robert Bosch GmbH and post-merger integration of Five AI into the Bosch group.

My clients range from Global 100 and Fortune 500 enterprises to younger businesses developing tomorrow's leading technologies. On the contentious side, I have led teams in high profile cases that have pushed the legal boundaries and set legal precedent. My role has seen me acting for household names in litigation at all levels including the Supreme Court. I also have extensive experience of multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and am familiar with the issues arising when enforcing standard essential patents, and the strategies that can be used in defending SEP infringement claims. On the commercial side, I assisted clients at all stages of their life cycle, including:• negotiating and drafting IP transfer, licensing and other IP-related agreements;• advising on market entry and product launches;• carrying out freedom to operate analyses; • advising on IP capture & strategy;• conducting IP audits & due diligence; • advising on contractual rights and exposure; and• extracting value out of IP portfolios.
