As part of the Human Resource Development Directorate at Heriot-Watt, the Professional & Organisational Development (POD) team are responsible for providing professional and leadership development across the University as well as supporting a number of University wide initiatives. As POD Consultant my responsibilities include: Design, delivery, evaluation and review of management development interventions such as Effective Conversations Leading Change, the Role of a Manager and Performance & Development ReviewDevelopment of an induction programme for people managers and improvement of local induction guidance and support Conducting needs analysis meetings with Directors of Service to design bespoke team interventions across the UniversityLeading on and supporting Organisational wide projects such implementing Hybrid Working, reviewing the performance and review process and developing and implementing initiatives to further embed University values Supporting the facilitation of senior leadership groups focused on the delivery of our strategyLeading on the coaching service for staff at the University, facilitating quarterly CPD events for our coaches and providing 1-1 coaching for colleagues across our global community. In addition I am a member of the University's Coaching Lab which brings together all coaching related teaching, research and pratice across our global community

As part of the Human Resource Development Directorate at Heriot-Watt, the Organisational Development team are responsible for providing professional and leadership development across the University. My role includes leading the induction sessions for new members of staff along with senior staff members at the University. I am also a qualified coach, I co-ordinate training courses and collaborate with external facilitators, I manage the team's budget, I am involved in the co-ordination of development events, I ensure all materials remain up to date and collaborate with and support my team to deliver specific projects. In 2013 our team were voted Outstanding HR Team at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards and we were finalists again in 2014.

As part of a funded project I was responsible for supporting the project team which included organising and monitoring expenditure, providing information to my colleagues in finance which fed into our funders. In addition I was involved in the planning and implementation of events run by the project and I took responsibility for sourcing and providing a wide range of support to the team. As one of my key strengths is relationship building, I took a lead role in organising events across teams with a view to developing and enhancing good working relationships.

As a member of a busy HR department I was responsible for supporting a number of different business areas. This role involved providing guidance on policies, employment issues and ensuring all payroll requirements were met. The nature of this role meant that I had to deal sensitively with situations that arose which was aided by the successful completion of a counselling course.During my time with Scottish & Newcastle the company was taken over by Heineken and I had the opportunity to be involved in a number of people related issues connected with the change programme including redundancy.

In 2010 and 2011 in a team of other volunteers I supported the communication of details and information for the Handbag Heaven event which took place in September 2010 and May 2011 and I continue to in this role for future events.

I joined the HR team at Capability Scotland during a period of change. As a result I took responsibility for my own training and development during this period which I found to be challenging and beneficial for future situations.I was responsible for all of the recruitment administration for the charity. This involved building relationships with Service Managers as well as assisting members of the public.

As part of my degree I completed a dissertation on Pregnancy Discrimination at Work and I have a continuing interest in Equality.
