Heart Of Texas Chapter

Interned for the External Affairs/Government Relations and Public Affairs teams within the Heart of Texas Chapter and the Central and South Texas Region of the American Red Cross. Elected Officials Project: Developed an elected officials tracker in MicrosoftTeams Excel by working with a team to input over 400 elected official contacts, call over 130 elected officials, and interview 22 Executive Directors and Community Volunteer Leaders from across the American Red Cross nationally to determine current practices in tracking relationships with elected officials. Took the initiative to learn GIS mapping to create a GIS tracker from the MicrosoftTeams Excel tracker to better visualize elected official relations across the region. Prepared and presented a report with findings from interviews conducted with Executive Directors and Community Volunteer Leaders and concluded from the research that creating an elected officials tracker would be a "best practice" for the Red Cross. Public Affairs Work: Wrote blog posts and captions for multiple social media posts. Solicited information from volunteers for social media content. Development and Fundraising Work: Used Foundation Directory Online to find grants for the Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter. Was trained in making prospecting calls. Gained experience in working virtually, social media strategy, communications, writing for different social media platforms, working with elected officials, community outreach and relations, working with stakeholders, taking initiative, conducting research and generating research reports, data analysis, GIS mapping, working in MicrosoftTeams, donor relations, and gained a general understanding of SalesForce and Foundation Directory.
