Claire established Brook Cottage Consultants (BCC) in 2013 to provide air quality services to industry, local and central Government. Drawing on her 30+ years experience of working in the air quality field BCC provides advice and impact assessments on a wide range of air quality issues including the classical pollutants (primarily nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter), odour, dust and bioaerosols. It also provides air quality support for the development of policy.

For five years Claire acted as a CSL Commissioner providing advise on the sustainability of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, particularly in relation to pollution issues. The Commission provided assurance to the Olympic Board and the public on how the bodies delivering the London Games and legacy were meeting their sustainability commitments. CSL ceased to exist at the end of March 2013.

Claire lead the European Air Quality team for ENVIRON, the global environmental consultancy. In this role she worked on a number of international projects as well as continuing to support her UK clients.

Claire leads a group of environmental scientists, engineers and public health specialists and is responsible for PBA’s work on air quality, climate change, carbon footprinting and management, noise and vibration, microclimate and health. She is an air quality specialist of international standing and has worked extensively on air quality, emission control, emission forecasting, health effects, and climate change for over 30 years. She has undertaken numerous air quality assessments, and increasingly climate change assessments, for land development projects, waste management and industrial facilities, mineral sites, and highway schemes. She has a wide knowledge of sustainability issues, and has sat on a number of Environment Agency, Defra and DfT Committees.

Claire lead a mutli-disciplinary group responsible for the delivery of PBA’s services on air quality, climate change, carbon footprinting and management, noise and vibration, microclimate and health. She lead PBA’s sustainable development services.

Director of an environmental consultancy specialising in finding cost-effective solutions to environmental problems of transport. Projects included identifying the most cost-effective technologies and changes in travel behaviour to meet environments targets for the European Commission, the Japan Clean Air Program and the UK Government. Other projects included:- assessments of emission control technologies, emissions from motor vehicles, the impacts of fuel quality air quality modelling, forecasting emissions from all sectors across the EU, comparison of the emission benefit of different transport fuels, and environmental management.Clients including the Department of Trade and Industry, Department for Environment, Transport and the RegionsR; Department of Health; Ford Motor Company, Vehicle Certification Agency, European Commission, Swedish National Road Transport Administration and the Japan Clean Air Programme

Worked as an environmental consultant specialising in air quality, climate change and environmental impacts of transport. Clients included a range of environmental organisations, UK and other Governments, and the European Commission. I was a special advisor to the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution’s two studies on Transport and the Environment, and a member of the Government’s Quality of Urban Air Review Group.
