About Dr Claire Jackson

I am an experienced educator, researcher, and consultant, specialising in inclusive education, particularly in the areas of teacher and teacher assistant collaboration, disability support, teacher education, school funding, school improvement, and education policy. My career of nearly 25 years spans a variety of education related settings in Australia and the UK, collaborating with key stakeholders at the school, system, and national level to provide guidance on how to identify and support students with diverse learning profiles. My work on national projects is helping to build capability in Australian educators in the implementation of contemporary evidence-based and research-informed inclusive practices. I have a long association with the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) including collaborating on national research projects as a subject matter expert and authoring multiple national resources and professional learning materials. My postgraduate studies focused on national and international trends in inclusive education, funding for students with disability, education policy, and supporting educators in making adjustments to support students with diverse learning needs. My doctoral research investigated how teachers and teacher assistants collaborate to facilitate inclusive practice. This mixed methods, multi-phase study led to the development and validation of a new scale that measures teachers’ self-efficacy when working with teacher assistants. I deliver workshops, tutorials, and lectures and have published and peer reviewed research on this topic.
