Over the last 19 years, my family have had the privilege of being an Extended Family Home/Shared Living Providers. I realized, that the necessary support for contractors to successfully assist in the direct care of individuals with developmental disabilities, was insufficient, and often lacking altogether. The need to change this reality has spawned Anew Shared Living Providers, whose mission is to raise the common standard by offering impeccable support to all three critical parties; the supported individual, the guardian, and the SLP. If even one of the three members is left unsupported, the other two cannot reach their greatest level of success. Our mission is to not only support all participating parties through state regulated laws, but also to provide a collective pool of skilled Support Staff, allowing SLP’s to receive prompt help, and/or relief. Our Support Staff are trained to care for all individuals within the company, increasing overall relief availability. This provides SLP’s needed time off, as well as the opportunity to regroup, enabling them to continue providing the very best care possible to all individuals withinAnew Shared Living Providers.My professional life goals have always been to help others. I started my health & wellness career in Physical Therapy. I loved being a Physical Therapist Assistant, but as my family grew I wanted the flexibility to be home with them. I continued to teach Pilates over the next 22 years in many different environments including; Physical Therapy clinics, dance schools, coed fitness gyms, privately in homes and also my business Pilates Institute, which I operate out of my home. Along with my pursuit in health and wellness, I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful non-profit companies. My responsibilities have ranged from Travel and Social Media Coordinating, to being a Communications Director. Working with these companies and assisting them in reaching the community was amazing.One of my newest pursuits has been a Facebook group called Got Core Power, founded in 2018. This group is designed to assist women along their journey of health and wellness. Our community started small, but has grown to be over 730 in just over 2 years. I wanted there to be a platform where women could feel safe, be supported and encouraged in all areas of life.
