When we started I brought my art modest gallery operations experience to the table to help mount the first Seattle Erotic Art Festival at Town Hall in 2003. We didn't really have titles back then, we were akin to the Judy Garland/Micky Rooney school of "let's put on a show!", and did we ever! Over the years as we evolved I had been called curator, art schlepper, she who should not be alowed to have pockets (because I often "lost" my tools in them). visual art coordinator and finally Visual Art Director. During my time with SEAF I designed most of the gallery floor plans, fabricated walls and designed and fabricated lighting systems, I handled logistics, drove the trucks, installed and painted the walls, ordered and hung the vinyl, labels and procured pedestals. I layed out the art and installed it and cleaned the glass and rigged hanging hardware. I patrolled the show and handled any "art emergencies" during the event. And when it was over, I took it all down packed the art and hauled off the art walls. On the very last day after the venue was empty you could find me on my hands and knees cleaning paint off of the floor.I did not do this by myself, I had tons of help, most notably Anna Hurwitz who guided the ship and grew it into an event people enjoy year after year today. I had a great time during my time there and made lasting friendships and connections!
