• Responsible for the smooth running of 7 retail outlets (including 2 Spar shops, a Starbucks and a Subway) along with managing 9 external tenants.• This involves line management responsibility for 15 permanent members of staff as well as over 100 student staff.• Accountable for recruitment, onboarding, training, staff management (including rotas) across all 7 retail outlets. This includes monitoring and managing performance, absence, continuous development and right to work checks.• Liaise with Senior Management Team regarding strategic objectives, future planning and budgets• Accountable for delivering annual turnover across the 7 retails outlets > £3 million annually, managing costs and investment to ensure profit targets are met.• Working in a Students Union means that the organisation is led and run by an Elected Student Executive with a Board of Trustees. Regularly report to these leadership groups on strategic objectives and capital investment submissions.• Work with external suppliers and contractors to ensure that costs, quality and value for money are maintained ultimately ensuring that Gross Profit (GP) targets are met annually.• Maintain a good understanding of regulations and laws that impact the retail / commercial space including; Licensing, Health and Safety, Food Safety and Allergens and UK Data Protection Act / GDPR.• Dealing with complaints from both staff and customers, responding to data subject rights requests relating to retail services.

• Ensure the smooth running of a 3000 capacity venue with a turnover of over £3million annually.• Working closely with suppliers and contractors to ensure the best deals are achieved that deliver on cost and quality so that gross profit (GP) targets are met annually• Operating customer loyalty programs to drive repeat custom and increase attendance at the various events and activities run by the venue.• Managing a pool of over 200 student staff including; recruitment, right to work checks, onboarding, training, rotas, absence, performance and weekly payroll.• A key holder for the Students Union responsible for securing the building and occasionally attending call-outs.
