Product Designer
Responsibilities:-On company led major projects, as a product designer, I wasresponsible for bringing products from conceptualisation to launch(This included areas such as the initial design, development, producing test models, gaining quotations, CAD maintenance, presentation visuals, organising prototype model manufacture, working towards budget and tooling approval, tooling orders, working with manufacturers during sample production, organising sample approval, warehouse assembly instructions/presentations, advising upon purchasing order levels, design of packaging, organising marketing and sales rep models, providing launch information and visuals).-I have liaised with numerous European and Asian suppliers concerning designs for quotation purposes. Regarding production sampling, I have also visited suppliers across the UK and in China to inspect components and make recommendations.-I have been involved in many customer led projects from new concepts and feasibility analyses to product adaptations for a number of high profile companies such as TFL, Starbucks, Costa, KFC and Jet.Within these project; fabrications, castings, extrusions and mouldings have been explored.-I was one of the lead designers at Glasdon that worked with Solid Solutions to implement an entirely new PDM system for a switchover from Siemens NX to Solidworks. This involved attending a number of planning meetings with the reseller and Glasdon’s design and IT management to decipher whether Solidworks would be a better fit for the company. As one of the only CAD users from Glasdon in these discussions a lot of questioning came my way. Having settled on Solidworks, I worked with the PDM specialist to configure and test Glasdon’s new system to ensure it would meet the department’s needs and to find ways of using the software to streamline the company’s current processes.
