I am a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council sitting on CABE's design review panels with the mission to improve the quality of the built environment in the UK. Design review is a process of evaluating the design quality of significant developments and urban regeneration schemes. I currently sit on the Thames Tideway review panel for major public realm initiatives along the river Thames.

I built and led a team of planners, architects, service designers and film-makers for the UK's urban innovation agency. We worked on design challenges at the intersection of societal change, the built environment and technology. I led major projects for the Mayor of London, Manchester City Council, Arup, Microsoft, a number of Development Corporations as well as projects in India and Mexico. These large-scale projects looked at issues ranging from innovation districts and wayfinding to the future of the planning system. As part of the start-up team I helped grow the organisation from seven to well over 100 in three years.

Whilst at Gehl I worked across a number of city strategies internationally applying the methodology developed by Jan Gehl to generate strategies for making cities at the human scale. This design approach takes methods from the social sciences to understand and generate evidence of the relationship between the the built environment and human behaviour and well-being. I worked on public realm designs at all scales, from small cities in Canada to Shanghai and Moscow as well as cities in northern Europe.

Whilst at LSE Cities I completed studies on urban morphology and related human patterns of behaviour, density and well-bein, as well as a project with the United Nations Green Economy Initiative.
