English Teacher
I served as a Middle and High School English Teacher. I planned curriculum and testing for students between 6 and 11th grades as well as ran extracurriculars focused on writing and SAT prep.
International Trade Intern
I researched and managed databases related to international trade in Los Angeles. I also drafted briefs on key industries and figures.
Research Assistant
I worked to collect, synthesize, and present data in meaningful and insightful ways. I worked on projects concerning intervention into civil wars and the Human Rights and the World Bank.
Communications Junior Fellow
I researched important global events to produce a concise and informative newsletter each week. In addition, I drafted content for the Council's social media accounts and provided assistance at Council events.
Public Affairs Intern
As a public affairs intern for the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, I helped facilitate outreach to the local community. I helped plan and support Embassy events, as well as engaged local students and provided information about work and study in the United States. I also helped prepare for the NATO Summit, and volunteered there as a part of the White House delegation. I edited news briefs and content for the website, as well as produced blurbs about US programs and short articles about embassy events. Held Secret Clearance.
Communications And Business Development Intern
As an intern at the South Park Business Improvement District (BID), I provided support to help the BID function smoothly and efficiently. Research Intern
I conducted research using the Association's extensive oral history archives. I identified important historical events, and, using the recollections of retired Foreign Service Officers, edited together articles about their experiences, which were published to the Association's website and Huffington Post blog, some of which reached thousands of views. The position required excellent writing and research abilities, as well as exposed me to the workings of the Foreign Service. I gained valuable insight into the workings of the Foreign Service by listening to the experiences of my bosses, all retired FSOs, and by attending events put on at the Foreign Service Institute.
Undergraduate Student Consultant
I worked with International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) who needed help improving their English language skills. I met with each for two hours a week to do exercises, go over course work for their English classes, help them improve their teaching skills, and acclimate them to American culture. Every two weeks, I wrote a report detailing the activities we did and progress made. In addition to course work and linguistic exercises, we engage in fun activities like watching American TV shows, going hiking, and trying restaurants in the area around USC and in downtown Los Angeles. Working with the ITAs requires patience, understanding, and an ability to work through language barriers to find comprehension and common ground.
Sales Support
I provided support to the sales team during the busy summer sales season. This involved coming in early and unpacking newly delivered stock, folding it, hanging it, and keeping the stock rooms organized. I helped expedite the sales process by finding items for the sales team, clearing dressing rooms, making appointments to see sales team members, answering phones, and ringing up customers at the register. I also increased the efficiency of the whole store by returning items from my department to other departments and delivering items from my department to other areas of the store when requested.
