For the 8th annual Spark music festival, my experience at UIC Radio made me eligible to sit on the planning committee for the university's annual back-to-school celebration. As a board member, I collaborated with fellow student leaders to plan and coordinate the festival. I am proud that I used my place on the board to voice the importance of a female performer. That year, artist H.E.R. was selected, as the first female headliner in the event's history. Three years later, in 2021, she received her first Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
