  • Age Uk Oxfordshire
    Head Of Homeshare
Age Uk Oxfordshire Mar 2016 - Jun 2017
    Abingdon
I managed a scheme called Homeshare Oxford, run through Age UK Oxfordshire and by Lloyds Bank Foundation.Homeshare Oxford aims to support older householders in Oxford City to welcome younger workers (e.g. nurses, teachers, post-graduate students) into their homes. In return, these younger Sharers will give the Householders some help around the home and companionship each week. The Sharer will also pay a modest contribution to living costs (about half the price of normal market rent), of which 3/4 will go directly to the Householder, and 1/4 will come to the Homeshare Oxford scheme to support the match ongoing. The scheme aims to tackle both the loneliness and isolation that is present in our ageing population, but also the affordable housing crisis. The aim long-term is for Homeshare Oxford to become financially self-sufficient.For more information: www.homeshareoxford.co.uk

University Of Oxford Nov 2013 - Sep 2015
    Oxford, United Kingdom
I worked as a Research Assistant on a project in the Psychopharmacology and Emotion Research Lab (PERL) alongside Dr Corinna Klinge. Our research focused on developing a test battery that is sensitive to subtle changes in cognitive function, i.e. learning and memory. Experiments included both computerized tasks, as well as EEG recordings, to provide behavioural and brain activity data. The ultimate aim of the project is to create a tool that can pick up both decline and improvement in cognitive function in different contexts, such as disease and ageing, or following a pharmacological intervention; for example using cognitive enhancers. In the long run, such a cost-effective diagnostic tool could be used to monitor cognitive function in clinical settings, including phase 1 trials (drug development).
