Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and circuits in a hydroelectric generating station. Equipment includes: generators, transformers, mechanical and gas(SF6) circuit breakers, various sizes of motors, manually and remotely controlled disconnecting switches, air compressors, transfer switches, batteries, lighting circuits, indicating and recording instruments, contactors and motor control circuits. Assist Operators in the operation of high-voltage switchgear and related devices for the purposes of troubleshooting and/or the repairing of electrical equipment. Perform field diagnostic tests such as meggering, voltage checks, and amperage checks to determine proper operational condition. Inspect, analyze, and troubleshoot: power distribution systems, exciters/voltage control systems, HVAC systems, lighting, auxiliary system components, switches, circuit breakers, transformers and make necessary repairs. Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics. Operate shop equipment and portable tools such as grinders, air tools, impact guns, solder guns, and hoists. Annually trained in HECP rules and regulations allowing the holding of clearances to perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Follow SOP’s and safety protocols to ensure a safe and productive working environment.

Inspect mechanical crew work by interpreting blueprints, Boeing documents, manuals, engineering specifications, and inspection books. Write Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) along with investigating the cause and reexamining any corrective actions taken and then document actions in the inspection log system with notes attached as applicable. Reject assembly or installation as required noting discrepant condition and the correct configuration of the assembly or installation by citing drawings, BAC specifications, or plan requirements. Work with others as part of a team including giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks, utilizing interpersonal skills, listening skills, and participation. Working conditions include: considerable walking and standing on concrete and metal floors, climbing stairways, the manipulation of the body in uncomfortable positions, frequent exposure to falls from ladders, and light to moderate physical effort.

Filled leading role in the start up and commissioning of the largest operating groundwater treatment facility on the Hanford site. Manipulate valves, pumps and facility equipment to remove saturated resin from vessel and replace with regenerated resin. Test water samples to determine levels of chromium, pH, turbidity and conductivity. Acquire water samples for quality control and laboratory analysis. Review, revise and work with operating procedures to ensure safety and proper operation of processes. Use operating procedures to train and develop new operators on the proper methods and processes governed by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. Calculate and measure needed chemicals to determine necessary amounts needed for plant adjustments and to help in the testing of new products. Control water levels in tanks and wells by means of speed, flow or level switches.

Locate work area using drawings, which specify airplane number, section number, and three-point location. Install in wing fuel tank brackets, panels, bracing, seal pans, ribs, arms and accessories through the use of hand and pneumatic powered tools. Locate, drill, ream, and/or countersink holes for proper installation of parts using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools. Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners. Prior to assembly ensure all parts selected are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects. Position fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools, which include; rivet guns, bucking bars, drill motor, C-squeeze and nut runners. Align parts and secure in place using Clecos or clamps. Apply solvents to clean surfaces prior to application of sealant, alodine, primer, adhesives, or special finishes. Properly store all safety gear to include; safety glasses with side shields, face masks, neoprene and latex gloves, ear plugs and half or full face respirators. Operate mechanical lifts or rolling scaffolding to locate parts/assemblies into position and/or to perform assembly work.

Monitor instruments and gauges for proper quality levels in air, hydraulic fluid, wastewater, and exhaust. Shut down, re-route, or change flow as necessary of these systems to keep specific and correct quality control measures.
