CEMEX Research Group AG (CRG) launched its activities in 2001 to take a leadership role in developing and managing CEMEX’s Research & Development (R&D) initiatives, and to own and deploy the resulting Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio across its business units and functions worldwide. It is strategically located in Switzerland, one of the world’s most innovative countries.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Established a general tool and related methodologies to improve energy efficiency inadministrative buildings. Tool was web based and provided guidelines, quick wins andsuggestions on projects for facility mangers to review and implement accordingly.• Developed a comprehensive 3D simulation of the CEMEX building and its complexmultiple volumes in order to understand energy transfer within the building.• Analyzed and suggested modifications to the building in order to save resources andenergy within the on-going costs of the building.ACHIEVEMENTS:• Led a team for the development of a new management system to be implemented worldwide in CEMEX administrative buildings to meet sustainability goals.• Calculated return on investment, suggested and implemented the installation of newinsulation on the current roof in order to save on current building heating costs.• Executed the installation of a weather station and extracted data in order to analyze andevaluate the feasibility of alternative energy sources for use in the CEMEX researchgroup building.
